Outreach giving out free school suppliesOpen Arms Outreach will give out free school supplies beginning at 9 a.m. today at 409 N. Eighth St. in Killeen.This back-to-school event will be held in conjunction with the ministry's regular third Saturday clothes closet. In addition, breakfast burritos will be served to the public.Basic school supplies, including pens, pencils, paper and notebooks, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while the supplies last.This ministry serves the community by providing emergency food, clothing, toiletry items and financial assistance, explained Pastor Christine Hester, director of the ministry. Box 10654, Killeen, TX 76547.Heights church youth plan car washMembers of the United Methodist Youth Group of Harker Heights United Methodist Church will hold an all-day car wash today at Golden Chick restaurant on Indian Trail in Harker Heights. Funds raised will assist the youth group to go on mission trips that impact strongly on their individual lives.The youth group recently spent three days in Houston at The Center for Student Missions. They took part in serving food to the homeless, helping at a day care center for children of the homeless and working at a center for the homeless in downtown Houston. Fourteen members of the youth group were able to take part in the mission trip.
